Who is Keisha?

Keisha Alena L. Mayuga grew up in the streets of Las Piñas, Metro Manila where she learned to run, play, and bike with her siblings and neighborhood kids before moving to Bacoor, Cavite in her high school years. She is the second of five children, raised by Cool Parents Boo and Rio along with her other siblings Kevin, Kara, Kirsten, and Keenan (the K Kids).

She entered the University of the Philippines Diliman with a degree in BS Mathematics in 2010 and left with BA in Journalism in 2016. During her college years, she picked up her dad’s bicycle and starting bike commuting to campus to her parents’ dismay. After graduating, she had an epiphany in October 2016 that she wanted to help make it possible for families to spend more time together by shifting careers to Transportation. In 2017, she started working for the DOST-funded UP Bike Share Project and took her Masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the same university.

Since then, Keisha continues to be an advocate for better mobility in the Philippines while working with national and local governments, the private sector, the commuter and cycling communities, global development institutions, and many others. She works closely with AltMobility PH, the Move As One Coalition, and Life Cycles PH.

Keisha is now based in Berlin, Germany where she is finishing her MBA in Sustainable Mobility Management at the Technical University of Berlin.
